mweqAbernethy è un villaggio mwegscozzese situato a 7 km a sud-est di mwewPerth, nella regione di mwfaPerth e Kinross. Un tempo era la sede di un vescovado, trasferito poi a mwfqSaint Andrews dal mwfgIX secolo, e fu la residenza degli antichi re dei mwfwpitti. Alla morte del padre, mwgaDonald di Ogilvy, divenuto poi santo, le sue nove figlie, tutte monache, entrarono nell'Abbazia della città.

Sotto il nome latino di mwggAbernethia (mwgwAbernethiensis), è rimasta ad oggi una mwhasede episcopale titolarecite-ref-1[1].

Nell'XI secolo fu sede del mwigTrattato di Abernethy tra mwiwGuglielmo il Conquistatore d'Inghilterra e mwjaMalcolm III di Scozia che portò ad un patto di non belligeranzatra i due regni.cite-ref-2[2]
